Delhi Capitals (DC) have received some unfortunate news before their crucial match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on April 7.
Mitchell Marsh, one of their star all-rounders, may not be able to play due to an injury picked up before the game.
Director of cricket for Delhi Capitals, Sourav Ganguly, confirmed the development during the pre-match conference. However, he did not reveal the type of injury Marsh sustained or how long it would take for him to recover.
This comes as a huge blow for Delhi Capitals, who already are struggling to get going in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
Rishabh Pant-led side are reeling at the bottom of the table as they have managed just one win from the four games so far in the tournament, suffering losses against PBKS, RR, and KKR.
Marsh has played all four matches for the Capitals in the current season IPL 2024. But he hasn't been able to make much of an impact in any of them. He has only scored 61 runs and taken one wicket. If Marsh is indeed unable to play, the Capitals may bring in Australian explosive batter Jake Fraser-McGurk to their playing XI. Fraser-McGurk was brought in as a replacement for star pacer Lungi Ngidi.
Ganguly also confirmed that their star leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has suffered a groin injury. Kuldeep has played only two matches in the current season and has taken three wickets so far. He played against the Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
